So Many Books has now been picked up by stations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas and New Mexico. I expect it to appear soon in many more venues.
To cut back on time spent on editing and distribution, I’m trying to tape no more than 2 episodes per month. I have openings beginning in late August/Early September.
Public TV stations play these episodes over and over, filling in various empty time slots, so it can turn into a lot of exposure. I’ll also post the full episode on Blip.tv and provide you with links, and a DVD you can use for your own purposes.
Guidelines:
1. You get the entire half-hour format to discuss yourself, your books, and anything else you think appropriate.
2. I am looking for works of Fiction but I have made a very few exceptions. I’m not looking for cookbooks, travel guides or self-help books.
3. To be within federal guidelines for Public Access TV, I cannot tell people how they can buy the book (go to Amazon, the author’s website, etc.). Because of this restriction, I’m looking for books that have wide distribution—someone who sees the show can go to their local bookstore or Wal-mart and find a copy. This means I do not feature e-books, print on demand or self-published books. This is not a statement against these publication methods – please don’t send me hate mail.
4. Within the guidelines of item #3, I want to do a show specifically ABOUT ebooks at some time in the near future, featuring several authors and a discussion of the medium. If you are interested in appearing on that show, let me know.
5. This is Public Access TV and, as such, I make no profit and all expenses are completely out of my own pocket. I cannot help with travel or accommodations. You would have to travel to Bolton, Connecticut (near Hartford) on your own nickel. Depending on my schedule, I may be able to pick you up at the train station or airport.
6. Also, because this is Public Access TV, I cannot accept remuneration. For those who feel compelled to do something to help me get this show produced and distributed, I will accept small-denomination gift cards for Office Depot or Staples. Also, if you are just DYING to take me out to dinner after the taping, there is a really excellent restaurant within a few minutes of the studio. :)
If you’re interested in appearing on So Many Books send an email to toni@toniandrews.com with So Many Books and your name in the subject line. Also, send a copy of your book, if possible, to So Many Books, 131 West Shore Road, Ellington, CT 06029
I don’t return books – if you don’t end up on the show, your book will probably appear on the set for a couple of episodes and eventually be donated to a local library.
